Dermatopathology Laboratory Supervisor


Dermatopathology Laboratory Supervisor working supervisor responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of laboratory operations, staff, regulatory compliance, and SOPs in a growing dynamic Dermatology Practice

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

.      Supervises the daily operations of the histology department and personnel to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, established procedures and compiles data and prepares reports
.      Act as liaison between technical staff, Dermatopathologists and referring providers to ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer service
.      Build a strong team dedicated to both referring physicians and employee loyalty and engagement
.      Responsible for the coordination between our lab, clients and patients
.      Performs all necessary functions required of a Histology Technician including:
 

.    Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies, company and department polices, adherence to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations
.    Competency assessments, Quality Control and instrument review
.    Specimen processing including accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, slide mount and special stains


.      Develop, implement, revise, interpret and enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies and procedures, and service standards
.      Work with department and corporate on annual operating and capital budgets, reporting and analysis
.      Recruiting and onboarding new staff and provide training for existing staff as needed

Required Qualifications:

.      Bachelor's in clinical laboratory science, medical technology or chemical, physical or biological science and 1-year training and experience in high-complexity testing; OR Associate degree in medical laboratory technology and 2 years laboratory or experience in high complexity testing

.      HTL Certified
.      Minimum of 6 years performing all functions within an anatomical pathology lab
.      Minimum of 3 years of supervisory responsibility
.      Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory operations and regulatory standards including CAP and CLIA.

.      Working with Others: Works well and has good interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of the organization.  Is courteous, tactful, and has a team spirit. Communicates in a clear, concise, effective, and timely manner, both orally and in writing. Displays well developed listening skills
.      Adaptability/Flexibility: Ability to adapt and learn to stay current with new technologies, processes and regulations
.      Client Service: Incorporates and demonstrates customer service strategies in dealing with people to achieve the department and organization’s goal of providing quality care
